This processor, which is equivalent to the enhanced version of Core i5-12400F, is more powerful, more cost-effective, and more suitable for gamers. The most attractive thing is that it also has the "black skin" that previously existed in the Supreme processor.
After the launch of Intel's 13th-generation Raptor Lake family, the 12th-generation processors are still very competitive, but Intel seems to continue the tradition of "special supply in China" and is expected to launch two new 13-generation core "black box" models in the near future.
According to the Intel documents exposed, Core i5-13490F and Core i7-13790F are very competitive, but they have not yet appeared in Intel's ARK database, so CTOnews.com is temporarily unable to confirm their launch dates.
It is not difficult to see from the naming that i5-13490F is the successor to i5-12490F, while i7-13790F is a brand new product. In addition, Core i5-13490F and Core i7-13790F positioning F-series chips, which also means they will not have integrated graphics cards, so you also need to match them with a separate graphics card to use.
Although Core i5-12490F brings convenience to gamers, it is essentially a way for Intel to maximize profits.
Simply put, the chipmaker produces two types of bare chips for Alder Lake: C0 (8P+8E) and H0 (6P+0E), the former for high-end chips such as Core i9 and i7, and the latter for low-end chips such as i5 and i3.
Of course, this is also the advantage of mid-range SKU, because Intel will repackage some of the C0 chips that do not meet high standards for lower-level SKU. As a result, Core i5-13490F and i7-13790F are likely to be the products of Intel's recycling and reprocessing of some high-end wafers.
Coincidentally, a domestic netizen also happened to give part of the specification of i5-13490F, which seems to have been greatly upgraded compared with the previous generation.
According to the CPU-Z screenshot, Core i5-13490F uses a 10-core 16-thread configuration, which is the same as the regular i5-13400F configuration, but the performance has almost reached the level of the previous generation i5-12600K.
Core i5-13490F has six P cores and four E cores, so the most significant difference compared with the previous generation is the addition of four E cores. In addition, CPU-Z shows that the chip has the acceleration frequency of 4.8GHz, which is 200 MHz higher than that of i5-12490F and i5-13400F.
It is worth mentioning that the L3 cache of i5-12490F is also more 4MB than i5-12400F, on an equal footing with i7-13700F.
The i5-13490F scored 779.7 in a single-core test and 6834.5 in a multi-core test. For comparison, i5-13400F can get 729.1 points in single-core test and 6540 points in multi-core test. This means that the single-core performance of i5-13490F is about 6.9% higher than that of i5-13400F, 11.4% higher than i5-12490F, 4.5% higher than i5-13400F, and 46.9% higher than i5-12490F.
