According to CTOnews.com news on February 5, Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Carrier Association, said today that in December 2022, the revenue of the automobile industry was 917.4 billion yuan, down 4% from the same period last year; the cost of 771.6 billion yuan was down 5%; the profit was 55.7 billion yuan, an increase of 3% over the same period last year; and the profit margin of the automobile industry was 6.1%, which is still on the low side compared with the average profit margin of 7% for the entire industrial enterprise.

According to reports, from January to December 2022, the income of the automobile industry was 9.29 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.8 percent; the cost was 7.9833 trillion yuan, an increase of 7 percent; and a profit of 532 billion yuan, an overall increase of 1 percent over the same period last year. The overall profit performance of the automobile industry in 2022 is not strong, and the sales profit margin is only 5.7%, which is much lower than the historical normal level.

According to the China Automobile Association, 2702.1 million and 26.864 million vehicles were produced and sold in 2022, an increase of 3.4 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively over the same period last year.

In terms of new energy vehicles, China's new energy vehicles continued to grow explosively in 2022, with production and sales of 705.8 and 6.887 million vehicles respectively, an increase of 96.9% and 93.4% respectively over the same period last year, with a market share of 25.6%.

CTOnews.com learned that when looking forward to 2023, the China Automobile Association expressed its belief that with the implementation of relevant supporting policies and measures, it will further stimulate the vitality of the market and consumption, and is full of confidence in the economic improvement for the whole year. In addition, problems such as the shortage of chips in the new year are expected to be greatly alleviated, and the automobile market is expected to continue to show a steady and good development trend in 2023, showing a growth of about 3%.
