Wu Weiren, chief designer of China's lunar exploration project, said Chang'e-6 would collect more samples from the back of the moon to achieve the goal of 2000 grams. Chang 'e 7 is preparing to land at the south pole of the moon. Its main task is to carry out leap exploration and try to find water. Chang 'e 8 is ready to be launched around 2028. Chang' e 7 and Chang 'e 8 will form the basic model of the lunar Antarctic research station, including lunar orbiter, six vehicles, lunar rover, flying vehicle and several scientific exploration instruments.

Earlier, the Chang 'e-5 mission launched in November 2020 realized China's first unmanned lunar sampling return, which is also the third step in the "circle, fall and return" planned by China's "lunar exploration project."

CTOnews.com understands that the Chang 'e-6 mission is planned to be launched in Wenchang around 2025, and will carry out field investigation and analysis of the landing area on the back of the moon, and conduct systematic and long-term laboratory research on samples. Chang 'e-7 mission is planned to be launched around 2026. It is planned to carry out environmental and resource exploration at the south pole of the moon and lay the foundation for the construction of an international lunar research station.
