CTOnews.com February 5 news, the American Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) data show that global semiconductor sales reached 573.5 billion US dollars (currently about 3.88 trillion yuan) in 2022, setting a new record.

CTOnews.com learned that despite a slowdown in sales in the second half of the year, global semiconductor sales rose 3.2 per cent in 2022 from a year earlier, up from $555.9 billion in 2021 (currently about 3.76 trillion yuan).

According to SIA data, semiconductor sales in the fourth quarter of 2022 were $130.2 billion (currently about 881.454 billion yuan), down 14.7% from a year earlier and 7.7% from a month earlier. In December 2022, global semiconductor sales were $43.4 billion (currently about 293.818 billion yuan), down 4.4 per cent from November.

John Neuffer, president and CEO of SIA, said that despite short-term fluctuations in sales, the long-term outlook for the semiconductor market remained strong as chips played an increasingly important role in improving global intelligence and efficiency and strengthening connectivity.
