CTOnews.com, February 5 (Xinhua)-- Samsung has just released the next-generation Android flagship Galaxy S23 series, using an exclusive customized version of the second-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy.

Compared with the standard version, the biggest difference between Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy and Snapdragon 8 is that its CPU and GPU frequencies have increased, its Kryo CPU core has been overclocked to 3.36GHz (3.2GHz in the standard version), and the frequency of Adreno GPU has also increased from 680MHz to 719MHz.

In fact, the debate among users about the processor has been around the foundry, which some users think is made by Samsung itself, while others think it is specially customized by TSMC.

There has been no positive official response to the rumors, but Qualcomm answered users' questions today, confirming that the Snapdragon processors used in Samsung's Galaxy S23 series are still manufactured by TSMC 4nm.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor of the Galaxy S23 series has 1 Cortex-X3, 2 Cortex-A715, 2 Cortex-A710 and 3 Cortex-A510 cores.

Judging from the performance test results of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra that CTOnews.com has just shared, the high-frequency version of Snapdragon 8 Gen2 GPU is bright enough. Although Samsung's performance release is conservative, it is significantly ahead of other phones in GPU-intensive tasks.

Overall, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is 30-35% faster than the previous generation in the CPU test and about 30% faster in the Anbunny 9 comprehensive benchmark test. It provides up to 2x performance improvement in GFX Bench and 3DMark GPU tests, and 80-90% improvement in most cases.
