Wang Jun, president of car BU COO and intelligent driving solution product line, has been suspended, while Yu Chengdong will be in charge of the smart car business alone.

Huawei's business is mainly divided into three parts: Huawei HI model, smart car model and Tier 1-like auto parts supplier model. Wang Jun is in charge of the HI model, which packages major systems, including smart driving and intelligent modules, into the car, and is an enhanced version of the supply of auto parts. The HI model has successively signed three car companies, namely BAIC Polar Fox, Changan Avita and Guangzhou Automobile.

In April 2021, Yu Chengdong became car BU CEO, and Wang Jun's post of "President of car BU" was removed and transferred to President of COO and Intelligent driving Solutions product line. Yu Chengdong led the smart car model, launched AITO M5 and M7 and other models.

There are several obvious differences between the HI model and the smart car: the former is printed with the "HI" logo and is equipped with Huawei's advanced smart driving program ADS, while the smart car does not, but the smart car has the smoothest Hongmeng car in the industry, which is far more perfect than the HI model.

According to the HiEV report, a number of Huawei insiders and former car BU employees believe that this is related to Yu Chengdong's HI model of car BU and the poor progress of auto parts business after Yu Chengdong joined the car BU.

Huawei HI model currently launched a total of two models. Polar Fox Alpha S HI began delivery in July 2022, while Alpha S sold only a few hundred to 1000 units a month in the second half of last year, with few HI models sold; the second model, the Avita 11, just began delivery at the end of December 2022. At the same time, ADS, the main product feature of the HI model, is also a product line dominated by Wang Jun, and its delivery is significantly later than expected.

The performance of the MJ model is very dazzling. Since its delivery in March last year, by the end of 2022, AITO has sold more than 75000 cars, and the cheapest M5 has to sell for more than 250000 yuan, making it one of the two fastest-growing new car brands in 2022.
