CTOnews.com, February 5 (Xinhua)-- according to a report from The Information, Twitter will charge companies $1000 a month to retain their gold certification, and brands that do not pay a monthly fee of $1000 will lose their gold certification, but the exact effective date of the policy is unknown.

Internal information viewed by The Information also shows that Twitter wants to charge an extra $50 a month to add badges to each account related to the business. This coincides with a screenshot released by Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, showing emails between Twitter product manager Evan Jones and an unnamed company.

Twitter launched golden certification ahead of its "Verification for Organizations" program (formerly known as "commercial blue"), which allows the company to "verify and differentiate itself on Twitter" and to add a display company logo to the accounts of its employees, executives and others associated with the brand, just like the little Twitter logo on the profile of Twitter product manager Esther Crawford.

Navarre later provided another screenshot of direct information between another Twitter company and the product manager, reconfirming the price of $1000 a month. Twitter still hasn't officially disclosed any price information about its Verification for Organization subscription and began offering early access to the program last month.

CTOnews.com learned that expensive subscriptions are just one of many changes CEO Elon Musk has made to boost revenue and reduce Twitter's $12.5 billion debt. In addition to mass layoffs, Musk began charging users $8 a month for blue certification.

Although Musk promises to share Twitter's advertising revenue with creators, only blue-certified users are eligible. The company is also reported to be auctioning office furniture and other assets because it failed to pay rent in some places, including Twitter's San Francisco headquarters.
