CTOnews.com While most of the recent news about Edge has been positive, Microsoft is about to bring arguably one of the worst changes ever to its browser.

CTOnews.com has learned that Edge beta users on Dev and Canary have noticed that a new button has been added to the top right corner of the browser toolbar, a feature called "Discover," Microsoft's new attempt to impose recommended content in Edge, but this has caused a lot of complaints from users. First of all, the button is located in the same place as the menu button in the past, which makes it easy for users trying to open or close the browser menu to click by mistake.

In addition, Microsoft Edge itself is a minimal-looking browser, and the icons are also very simple and do not cause unnecessary distractions. The Discover button, however, has a bright purple icon, which is conspicuous and distracting, and is the only button that cannot be rearranged or removed from the toolbar.

The most annoying thing is that the Discover button opens when the mouse hovers over, without needing to be clicked. Microsoft had previously made News and Interests (Windows 10) and Windows Gadgets (Windows 11) open when hovering, but a flood of negative user feedback forced Microsoft to reconsider its choice and add the option to open gadgets when clicked. But it now appears that the company has not learned its lesson.
