CTOnews.com February 4, Sonos and Amazon are introducing Alexa voice control on Sonos devices in 27 new countries. Sonos users living in these countries will use the technology this spring.

CTOnews.com has learned that by expanding Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant on Sonos devices in more countries, users will achieve "a new seamless way to use voice to control Sonos speakers." With Alexa, users can set timers, play music, control compatible smart devices, and check the weather.

Through free software updates Voice capabilities for Sonos devices will be available in the following countries: Belgium, Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Denmark, Colombia, Ecuador, Finland, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Norway, Peru, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Portugal, South Africa, Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Sweden, Thailand and Turkey.

Users in the above 27 countries will access the Alexa International Edition, where users can gain voice control in Spanish, English, Italian, German and French.

The features available for users in Alexa International include:

Talk playback: enjoy seamless, hands-free music and TV content control through simple commands such as "Alexa, play Jazz" or "Alexa, pause movies". Alexa International Edition is compatible with Amazon Music, Spotify and TuneIn for music streaming, as well as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix for video streaming.

Seize the day: keep everything organized by setting timers and alarm clocks, adding events to shared calendars, adjusting shopping lists, getting cookie recipes, and so on. Let Alexa check the weather or share today's news bulletins to start the day.

Make phone calls at home: create an ideal home environment by controlling lighting, intelligent plugs, thermostats, security cameras, etc.

Individuals can access Alexa on Sonos voice devices, such as Arc, Beam, Five, One, Roam, and Move. Users can also select the desired voice service for each speaker, or choose to provide multiple voice services for compatible devices on one system.
