CTOnews.com, February 4 (Xinhua)-- Apple's second-generation HomePod smart speakers have gone on sale, and the new smart speakers can be purchased at Apple Store retail stores in the United States and some other countries.

Apple customers can use the Apple online store or the App Store app to order HomePod 2 to pick up goods at the Apple Store pickup store. Just select the "I'll pick it up" option at checkout, enter the zip code, and then select the most convenient Apple Store retail store. The customer can then select the pickup date and the 15-minute check-in window.

The new HomePod 2 costs $299 (2299 yuan) and is available in night and white, which looks similar to Apple's original HomePod, which was discontinued in 2021, but with minor design changes and new features.

The second-generation HomePod is delicately designed with a larger backlit touch surface and removable power cord, with five tweeter speakers (seven in the original model), four far-field microphones (six in the original model), and new temperature and humidity sensors.

CTOnews.com learned that the new HomePod 2 is equipped with a S7 chip and supports Thread, U1 U1 UWB chips that support music switching, and Wi-Fi 802.11n connections. It also supports spatial audio. Two HomePod can be used together to form stereo pairing, but primary HomePod users should be aware that the new HomePod second generation cannot be stereo paired with the first generation model.

The new HomePod 2 is available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and 11 other countries.
