CTOnews.com February 4 news, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily reported that IC design company MediaTek held a legal meeting yesterday, released the industry outlook.

Tsai Li-hang, CEO of MediaTek, said that business had a chance to improve in the second quarter. At this stage, we have seen a slight pick-up in demand for TVs and WiFi, and the first quarter of this year is expected to be the lowest point for MediaTek's annual operation.

Cai Lixing expects revenue of about NT $93 billion (currently about 21.018 billion yuan) to 101.7 billion new Taiwan dollars (currently about 22.984 billion yuan) in the first quarter of this year, down 6 to 14 per cent from a month earlier, with a gross profit margin of about 46 to 49 per cent.

At the same time, Cai Lixing said that the whole year is still limited to the uncertainty of the overall global economic environment, and the full-year revenue outlook will be provided after observing the degree of demand recovery in the coming months, while the full-year gross profit margin is expected to maintain the target of 46-49% in the first quarter.

CTOnews.com learned that Cai Lixing expects more flagship mobile phone chips to be unveiled and infiltrate into more markets, with market share in flagship phones continuing to increase in 2023, with 5G penetration benefiting from emerging markets such as India and Southeast Asia, which is expected to grow to 55 per cent from nearly 50 per cent last year.
