According to news on the morning of February 4, Beijing time, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, today asked the court to reject the revised class action filed by a number of advertisers.

In 2021, several advertisers filed a class action lawsuit against Google, accusing it of abusing its dominant position in digital advertising. Later, Judge Beth Rabson Freeman (BethLabson Freeman) of the District Court of San Jose in California dismissed the lawsuit.

But at the same time, Freeman reserved the opportunity for the plaintiff to file a lawsuit again. According to Freeman, plaintiffs need to clarify which market they think Google has monopolized and further explain why it is anti-competitive that Google refuses to support competitors' advertising systems. because the antitrust law does not require monopolists to help competitors survive.

With regard to the revised class action filed by advertisers, Alphabet said the six advertisers who filed the class action could not claim that they had been hurt by Google's advertising trading platform (ad exchange) because they were not involved.

Alphabet also said that five of the six advertisers waived their right to sue Google when they signed the terms of service. On the contrary, the provision requires the settlement of disputes through binding arbitration.

To this end, Alphabet asked the court to dismiss the advertiser's lawsuit.
