Third, the operation of sub-regions the growth of Internet business income in the eastern region is under pressure, and the increase in the northeast region is obvious. In 2022, the income from Internet business in the eastern region was 1.3244 trillion yuan, down 0.2 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 90.8 percent of the national Internet business revenue. The revenue from Internet business in the central region was 57.08 billion yuan, an increase of 1.1% over the same period last year. Revenue from Internet business in the western region totaled 72.11 billion yuan, down 16.9 percent from the same period last year. The revenue from Internet business in Northeast China was 5.36 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5% over the same period last year.

There are significant differences in the development of Internet and related services in major provinces. In 2022, Beijing (up 6.6 per cent), Shanghai (up 8.0 per cent), Guangdong (down 6.8 per cent), Zhejiang (down 2.1 per cent) and Tianjin (down 38.1 per cent) ranked among the top five Internet business revenues, accounting for 85.6 per cent of the country's total business income. There are 13 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) with positive growth in Internet business revenue across the country, of which Jiangxi, Hubei, Xizang, Liaoning and Hebei provinces (autonomous regions and cities) have a growth rate of more than 40%, while Henan and Yunnan have declined by more than 50%.
