The protagonist of this photo is LEDA 2046648, a spiral galaxy located more than 1 billion light-years away in the supercluster of Hercules.

The photos shared this time were taken by the James Webb Space Telescope during instrument calibration, which can help the spacecraft have the ability to "dig up fossils of the Milky way."

LEDA 2046648 can be seen at the bottom of this photo. A smaller spiral galaxy can be seen below LEDA, about 1/4 of its larger companion star. Both galaxies have glowing cores and star-forming regions that illuminate their pale pink spiral arms.

The photo was taken using Weber's near infrared camera (NIRCam). CTOnews.com class: the NIRCam is the main imager of the telescope, covering an infrared wavelength range of 0.6 to 5 microns. It can reveal the light emitted by the earliest stars and galaxies in the earliest stage of formation. It is equipped with a coronometer that works by blocking light from brighter objects.
