CTOnews.com, Feb. 3: Apple today reported that the number of platform subscribers rose from 900 million to 935 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2023 (the fourth quarter of 2022). The number of subscribers grew rapidly during the outbreak, but slowed as people around the world returned to work.

Apple said the number of active subscriptions increased by 35 million in the fourth quarter of last year, and the total number of subscriptions increased by 150 million in 2022, bringing the total number of subscribers to 935 million.

CTOnews.com learned that the number of subscribers is calculated based on various Apple services, entertainment apps, app subscriptions, and so on, such as Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade. Apple announced its fourth-quarter results on Thursday, with service revenue hitting an all-time high of $20.8 billion.

Luca Maestri, chief financial officer of Apple, said:

Despite the difficult macroeconomic environment and severely limited supply, our services business revenue reached a record $20.8 billion.

We generated $34 billion in operating cash flow during the quarter and returned more than $25 billion to shareholders while continuing to invest in our long-term growth plan.
