Following the launch of 420hp and 460hp natural gas engines of Volvo trucks, the maximum horsepower of FH and FM natural gas heavy trucks of Volvo trucks has now reached 500hp. CTOnews.com has learned that the new engine has achieved a major technological upgrade, with a gas efficiency increase of up to 4 per cent. At the same time, the capacity of natural gas storage tanks has been expanded by 10%, with longer mileage.

The upgraded natural gas series heavy truck models are compatible with the three major product strategic development directions of Volvo trucks-- composed of pure electric heavy trucks, fuel cell heavy trucks, and internal combustion engines using bio-liquefied natural gas, HVO hydrogenated vegetable oil, hydrogen and other renewable fuels.

The European Commission has unveiled REPower EU's energy independence plan, which aims to significantly increase EU energy capacity and increase the average annual production of biological liquefied natural gas tenfold by 2030.
