CTOnews.com, February 2 (Xinhua)-- recently, a piece of information about Microsoft's massive layoffs in Suzhou circulated online, saying that Microsoft Suzhou is "going to be killed in a pot", with employees compensating for "Nintendo 12, lifting the ban on stocks and one-year social security." Information shows that at present, 2583 people are insured in the Suzhou branch of Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd.

According to a reporter from Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, Tuyuan Pexels confirmed from a number of independent sources that the news was not true. A Microsoft employee in Suzhou told reporters that under Microsoft's big layoff plan, China will have an impact, but "Microsoft Suzhou alone has nearly 3000 employees in its R & D center, which is impossible."

However, the report also said that there is indeed adjustment and optimization. Another Microsoft employee in Suzhou said that some fresh cards in the class of 2022 are not allowed to become regular students during the probationary period. Recently, resources in China have also been withdrawn, and "graphics cards have been withdrawn one after another."

In addition, according to nine news reports, a number of Microsoft employees revealed on the pulse platform that they had received internal emails refuting rumors. According to Kechuangban Daily, Wang Yongdong, senior vice president of Microsoft worldwide and chairman of Microsoft Asia Pacific Research and Development Group, sent an internal email late Monday night to dispel rumors that he was not aware of any plans to shut down Microsoft's Suzhou site. Wang Yongdong said in an email that he usually does not respond to similar rumors, and that this exception is that a large number of inquiries have attracted internal and external attention. Wang Yongdong called on employees to return to work and focus on customer and user service. "Don't waste your precious time on such baseless rumors, and don't spread rumors further."

In addition, Microsoft Suzhou is still recruiting new employees. According to the Microsoft recruitment website, Microsoft Suzhou now has 19 jobs for external recruitment. The most recent post was updated on January 31, 2023 for a position of software engineer.

CTOnews.com learned that on January 18, Microsoft announced that it would cut 10, 000 jobs worldwide, or about 5% of its workforce, by the end of March. Layoffs and related changes will cause the company to lose $1.2 billion in earnings in the fourth quarter of 2022. The cost includes $800 million in severance pay, with an average compensation of 540000 yuan for each laid-off employee.

As of June 30 last year, Microsoft had 221000 employees worldwide, including 122000 in the United States and 99000 overseas. However, Microsoft did not disclose where the layoffs are mainly concentrated.
