CTOnews.com, February 1, according to the official news of the three Gorges Group, as of January 28, 2023, the Baihetan Hydropower Station, the world's second largest hydropower station and the country's major project implementing the strategy of "power transmission from west to east", has produced more than 60 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity, equivalent to saving 18.09 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 49.68 million tons.

The three Gorges Group said that the Spring Festival of the year of the Rabbit, which just passed, was the first Spring Festival after the Baihetan Hydropower Station was fully put into operation. During this period, the Baihetan Hydropower Station generated a total of 760 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity, which only took about 7 milliseconds to "flash" to Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces 2000 kilometers away.

CTOnews.com learned that Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County in Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County in Yunnan Province. A total of 16 million kilowatt hydroelectric generating units independently developed in China and with the largest unit capacity in the world have been installed in the power station, with a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts. The first batch of units will be put into operation on June 28, 2021, and all of them will be put into operation on December 20, 2022.

In addition, China has comprehensively built the world's largest clean energy corridor on the Yangtze River. the six giant cascade hydropower stations (Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, three Gorges and Gezhouba) built and operated by the three Gorges Group in the Yangtze River have installed 110hydropower units, with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts and an average annual generating capacity of 300 billion kilowatt hours, forming the world's largest clean energy corridor spanning 1800 kilometers. It is of great significance to ensure flood control, power generation, shipping, water resources utilization and ecological security in the Yangtze River basin.
