CTOnews.com, February 1, according to CINNO Research data, sales of folding screen phones in China reached 2.83 million in 2022, a sharp increase of 144.4% compared with the same period last year. According to the quarterly data, domestic folding mobile phone sales have been growing for nine consecutive quarters compared with the same period last year.

CTOnews.com learned that in terms of brand, Huawei sold about 1.44 million folding phones in 2022, an increase of 132% over the same period last year, ranking firmly in the domestic folding machine market No.1, mainly due to the good market performance of its new phone P50 Pocket / Mate X2, which was launched in the fourth quarter of last year. Since its launch in December 2021, P50 Pocket has won the top single-quarter sales of domestic folding screen phones in Q1 / Q2 / Q3. The Pocket S, which went public in November, leapt to the top of sales in the fourth quarter.

All Top 7 brands grew year-on-year, with OPPO up 453% and Xiaomi up 112%. OPPO achieved good market performance by virtue of OPPO Find N, OPPO Find N2 and OPPO Find N2 Flip, while Xiaomi's MIX Fold2 is the main sales force.

In terms of market share, China's market share in 2022 reached 51%, more than 50%, down 2.8% from the same period last year, but still ahead of the domestic folding screen mobile phone market; Samsung's market share was 22.8%, down 9.7% from the same period last year, and the brand end fell the most from the same period last year; OPPO ranked third with 7.7% share, up 4.3% from the same period last year. Xiaomi / vivo / Glory has a market share of 6.6% / 5.8% / 5% respectively.

In 2022, the sales of products worth more than 15000 yuan in China's folding mobile phone market accounted for 21%, down 41% from the same period last year. The proportion of sales in the price range of 10000-14999 yuan dropped to 10% from 20% in the same period last year. Sales in the price range of 5000-9999 yuan accounted for a sharp increase of 51%, reaching 69%.

According to observation and analysis, among the 15 folding products listed on the Chinese market since the beginning of the year, 12 of them have a starting price of less than 10,000 yuan, which will lead to a rapid rise in the share of folding machines under 10,000 yuan; with the continuous decline in the price of folding mobile phones, its popularity is getting higher and higher, and the market capacity is constantly expanding.
