Revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 was $43.1 billion (currently about 291.356 billion yuan), up 28.4 percent from a year earlier, while net profit attributable to shareholders was $2 billion (currently about 13.52 billion yuan), up 14.8 percent from a year earlier, according to the results.

For the whole of 2022, the company's revenue was $156.7 billion (currently about 1.06 trillion yuan), up 23.4% from a year earlier, while net profit attributable to shareholders was $9.9 billion (currently about 66.924 billion yuan), down 0.8% from a year earlier.

GM's reported car sales show that it sold 2.274088 million vehicles in the United States in 2022, making it the largest U.S. carmaker, surpassing Japan's Toyota Motor (2.108458 million).

GM CEO Mary Barra pointed out that the Chevrolet Bolt has become the most popular affordable electric vehicle in the United States, further demonstrating "the importance of affordable electric vehicles in its product portfolio." After reaching record production in 2022, the company plans to produce 70,000 Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV vehicles this year.

Although GM became the largest carmaker in the United States in 2022, it lagged behind traditional and emerging competitors in electric vehicle sales.
