CTOnews.com, February 1 (Xinhua) according to the latest report released by market research firm Gartner on Tuesday, global shipments of personal computers and mobile phones are expected to decline for the second year in a row in 2023, with mobile phone shipments falling to their lowest level in a decade.

Shipments of global devices, including PC, tablets and phones, are expected to be 1.7 billion units in 2023, down 4.4 per cent from a year earlier, Gartner said in a report. In 2022, global equipment shipments fell 11.9% from a year earlier.

Gartner estimates that global smartphone shipments will be 1.23 billion in 2023, down from 1.28bn in 2022 and down 4 per cent from a year earlier.

Equipment shipments declined for the second year in a row

After falling 16 per cent in 2022, PC shipments will fall by 7 per cent in 2023.

PC inventory levels (PC Inventory Levels) will return to normal in the second half of 2023.

The replacement cycle of all equipment will be extended from 6 months to more than 9 months.
