Over the past 14 months (from October 2021 to November 2022), DevJobsScanner analyzed the requirements of more than 12 million developer positions and selected jobs that clearly require programming languages, and has identified the eight most popular programming languages in 2022.

At present, the top eight languages in demand in the market are:

1 、 JavaScript / TypeScript

JavaScript has been popular since its inception. At present, Javascript is still the most needed programming language in the entire market, and the arrival of TypeScript may have contributed to this milestone. The popularity of TypeScript has only increased in recent years, and many new JavaScript frameworks are written entirely in TypeScript, such as Angular or NestJS.

From October 2021 to November 2022 (14 months), DevJobsScanner identified 801K jobs, accounting for about 31 per cent of jobs with clear programming language requirements.

Python has become the second most demanding programming language in 2022. DevJobsScanner says its versatility, from scripting to running servers to data analysis, has been the key to achieving this milestone. In addition, Python's community is one of the best and most comprehensive.

During the 14 months, researchers found a total of 515000 jobs, accounting for 20%.
