CTOnews.com, January 31 (Xinhua) Apple recently suffered its fourth class action lawsuit in the United States over the issue of app tracking transparency (App Tracking Transparency). Following three class-action lawsuits in California, Pennsylvania and New York, Apple faced its fourth class action lawsuit in Northern California.

The class action lawsuits are based on a report released by Mysk developers in November 2022, accusing Apple of requiring third-party companies to publish app tracking details while inserting device identifiers in anonymous information.

CTOnews.com learned that the fourth class action case was initiated by the plaintiff Julia Cima in the Northern District Court of California. She believes that Apple has many violations of privacy laws, competition and other acts, through class action to protect the rights of affected users.

The lawsuit pointed out that Apple "blatantly violated consumer privacy" and could not meet users' requirements to restrict data sharing. Apple restricts the use of identifiers and cross-application tracking by third-party applications, but still tracks users in its own applications when the application tracking transparency is turned on.
