On December 30, 2022, the Ministry of Science and Technology formally approved the construction of the National Integrated Circuit Design Automation Technology Innovation Center in Nanjing.

With Southeast University as the leading construction unit, EDA National Chuangchuang Center was rebuilt by the former National Application specific Integrated Circuit system Engineering Technology Research Center, and jointly created and landed with Jiangbei New area, with the joint participation of domestic leading enterprises of EDA, upstream and downstream enterprises such as integrated circuit manufacturing and design, Peking University, Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, and other universities.

The core mission of EDA National Innovation Center is to break through the common, basic and leading key technologies of the EDA industry chain, to realize the industrialization of major research achievements, to give full play to the role of market mechanism and the organizational role of the government in tackling key core technologies, to gather the superior scientific and technological forces of the whole country, and to build a new national scientific and technological research system with enterprise-led and deep integration of industry, university and research. We will promote the deep integration of innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain and talent chain, create a technological birthplace, product demonstration place and high-level talent gathering place for China's EDA industry, and support and lead the independent and controlled development of China's EDA industry.

Southeast University has focused on the field of EDA. In 2018, it listed EDA technology as one of its "top ten scientific problems". It co-ordinated the university's superior disciplines such as integrated circuit, information, computer and mathematics, established three joint laboratories with domestic EDA leading enterprises, and carried out in-depth research in the fields of three-dimensional layout and wiring, timing analysis, MEMS design software, power device models, electromagnetic simulation and automatic synthesis of RF circuits. At the same time, actively promote EDA competitions and other personnel training work.
