Intel reported fourth-quarter revenue of $14 billion (about 94.78 billion yuan), down 32% from a year earlier, and a net loss of nearly $700 million (about 4.739 billion yuan), compared with a net profit of $4.6 billion (about 31.142 billion yuan) in the same period last year.

According to Taiwan Economic Daily, Acer Group founder Shi Zhenrong said today that Intel's losses and Hewlett-Packard layoffs are warning signs, indicating that the PC industry is saturated, whether for Intel, Hewlett-Packard or Acer, and that the industry has reached a process of positive transformation.

When talking about how long the industrial transformation will take, Shi Zhenrong said that "Wintel" holds the commanding heights in the PC industry, and the software control is relatively strong, so Microsoft is still very strong, but Intel can no longer win the AMD plus Taiwan SMC model, which is just the beginning. In the future, the distance between the two sides will become farther and farther, because the vertical division of labor is the king.

In addition, Shi Zhenrong pointed out that Acer has invested some energy in new businesses over the years, so the whole PC is a good foundation because it is large enough.

CTOnews.com learned that financial data showed that Acer's consolidated revenue in 2022 was NT $275.43 billion (about RMB 61.145 billion), down 13.7 per cent from a year earlier. Acer's consolidated revenue in the fourth quarter was NT $59.848 billion (about 13.286 billion yuan), down 7.8% from a month earlier and 30.8% from a year earlier.
