The latest data released by third-party market research firm IDC show that in the fourth quarter of 2022, China's single-quarter shipments of folding screen products hit another record high, shipping more than 1.1 million units. Shipments for the whole year were nearly 3.3 million units, an increase of 118% over the same period last year, and the growth rate was higher than expected.
Overall, in 2022, the top five market share manufacturers accounted for more than 90% of the entire folding screen market share, brand concentration is very high. Specifically, Huawei occupies the first position in the domestic folding screen market, with a share of 47.4%; Samsung ranks second with a market share of 16.5%; with the stable performance of the Find N series throughout the year, OPPO gains 13.8% market share, ranking third; the first folding screen product X Fold&+ series helps vivo stabilize in the fourth place in the folding screen market, with a market share of 7.7%. Glory ranks fifth with Magic V.
Among the brands with a market share of more than 10%, OPPO's performance is particularly outstanding, compared with the layout of Huawei and Samsung's multi-product lines. Throughout 2022, OPPO almost entered the top three positions in the market by relying on Find N alone, and quickly approached Samsung's market position, which shows that OPPO's first folding screen phone, Find N, has quite a good market and consumer recognition.
OPPO also released an upgraded Find N2 & Flip folding screen phone at the end of last year, with first sales ahead of the previous generation. Data show that during the last week of 2022, during the launch of Find N2, OPPO ranked first in the market with a 40.5% share, reflecting the popularity of OPPO folding screen products.
The OPPO Find N2 series, launched on December 15 last year, includes the flagship Find N2, the lightest horizontal folding in history, as light as 233g, and the Find N2 Flip, the first vertical folding product with a 3.26inch-to-date largest outer screen.

And the IDC report also shows that vertical folding products accounted for 42.3% of the folding screen market in 2022.
