By the end of 2022, the number of connections has reached 1.845 billion, a net increase of 447 million over the end of 2021, accounting for 70% of the global total.

By the end of 2022, the total number of mobile communication base stations reached 10.83 million, with a net increase of 870000 for the whole year. China has initially formed a pattern of coordinated development of narrowband Internet of things (NB-IoT), 4G and 5G networks, and the network coverage capacity continues to improve. Among them, the narrowband Internet of things is the largest in the world, achieving continuous coverage of township and above areas in major cities across the country; 4G network covering urban and rural areas across the country; and 5G network covering all county towns and urban areas.

The number of mobile animal Internet connections is growing rapidly, and the "thing" connection is rapidly surpassing the "human" connection. Statistics show that by the end of 2022, the total number of terminal connections in China's mobile network has reached 3.528 billion, of which the number of mobile animal network users representing "things" connections is 161 million higher than that of mobile phone users, accounting for 52.3% of the number of mobile network terminal connections.

The application scenarios are constantly enriched, and the industrial chain continues to improve. China has formed a relatively complete mobile animal networking industry chain covering chips, modules, terminals, software, platforms and services. Narrowband Internet of things has formed 4 million-level applications such as water meter, gas meter, smoke sense and tracking, and 7 million-level applications such as white electricity, street lamps, parking, agriculture and so on. The scale of mobile animal networking terminals used in public service, car networking, smart retail, smart home and other fields has reached 496 million, 375 million, 250 million and 192 million respectively. Industry applications are constantly expanding to intelligent manufacturing, intelligent agriculture, intelligent transportation, intelligent logistics and consumer Internet of things.
