A former Google employee reportedly said he felt a "victim" when he learned via email that he had been fired a few days after his wife gave birth to her first child.

Nicholas Nicholas Dufau, a Google lawyer in Los Angeles, wrote on LinkedIn that he became a father on January 17-three days later, while nursing his daughter at 2 a.m., "I was informed that I had lost access to the Google account."

He worked as an assistant product consultant at Google for six months before he was fired, according to LinkedIn. In his LinkedIn post about his dismissal, Dufour posted a screenshot of Google's dismissal notice, as well as a picture of him and his newborn.

Before taking maternity leave, his colleagues "assured me that this is a company that cherishes its employees," he wrote.

Google had no comment.

Google announced on January 20 that it plans to cut about 12000 jobs, or about 6 per cent of its global workforce.
