Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, January 29 (Xinhua)-- according to the Taiwan Central News Agency, the agency reports that sales in the smartphone industry will pick up as soon as the channel inventory level is corrected.

TrendForce pointed out that global mobile phone production has experienced six consecutive quarters of year-on-year decline from the third quarter of 2021 to the fourth quarter of 2022. MIC expects the global smartphone market to be 1.26 billion units in 2022, with a 6.8% decline in year-on-year decline of 6.8%. DIGITIMES expects 1.17 billion smartphones shipped in 2022, a decline of 10.7%.

TrendForce predicts that smartphone inventories are expected to return to healthy levels and production performance will improve in the second quarter of 2023, but smartphone production growth is still limited in 2023 as the environment does not shake off disturbances such as inflation and geo-conflicts, with an annual growth rate of only a low single digit percentage (about 1 to 3 per cent).

CTOnews.com learned that MIC believes that smartphone inventory adjustment is not expected to end until the second to third quarters of 2023. Global mobile phone shipments are expected to be 1.327 billion units in 2023, with a growth rate of 5.2% in the 2022 base period. Overall performance is expected to be lower than 2021 shipments and has not yet returned to pre-epidemic levels.

DIGITIMES predicts that in the next five years, negative effects such as the COVID-19 epidemic, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, higher interest rates in the United States and global inflation will decrease year by year, while the trend of 5G replacement and users of feature phones in emerging markets to buy low-cost smartphones will continue, the market will return to the growth track, and the annual shipment growth rate is expected to fall at 2% to 9%, with an annual compound growth rate (CAGR) of 4.8%.

In terms of brands, DIGITIMES expects that the top seven smartphone shipments this year will be Samsung, Apple, OPPO, Xiaomi, vivo, Voice and Glory, totaling nearly 1.04 billion units, accounting for 86.4% of the global market share.

In terms of 5G smartphones, DIGITIMES pointed out that shipments of 5G smartphones will reach 610 million units in 2022, an increase of less than 80 million units compared with 2021; 5G phones are expected to ship between 110 million and 170 million units per year from 2023 to 2027, and the proportion of 5G phones shipped is expected to be close to 90% by 2027.
