CTOnews.com, January 29 (Xinhua) Capcom will use the PC in the upcoming Capcom Cup competition, which will offer a total of $300000 to the world's best "Street Fighter 5" players. In a message posted on Twitter, Capcom officially said that all competitions will be played on PC with the monitor set to 144Hz.

Capcom did not provide any information about the computer hardware, but the move is expected to reduce input lag, the time it takes for buttons pressed on a keyboard or handle to be converted into actions displayed on the screen. In the field of combat games, low input lag is a necessary requirement, and input lag may greatly affect the results of the game.

Street Fighter 5 has had input delays on PlayStation 4 for a long time, and even PlayStation 5 doesn't seem to have improved much in this respect. Before the outbreak, PlayStation 4 was the preferred host for Street Fighter 5, but Street Fighter professional Arman Hanjani (Phenom) told The Verge that because the live event was cancelled and more games were held online, many players switched to PC.

"for the past few years, we've been playing mainly on PC," Hanjani said. "the game has the lowest input latency on PC." And the overall performance of the game on PC is better, which is probably the catalyst behind Capcom's decision. Other Street Fighter professionals, including Arturo Sanchez (Arturo Sanchez), also known as Sabin, have long promoted Street Fighter 5 on PC.

Fortunately, the upcoming Street Fighter 6 can make substantial improvements to input latency through its new ability to reduce input latency. A user named Kimagre Gaming tried this feature in a closed test and found that it greatly reduced the input latency of PS5, while another user saw a similar improvement on Xbox Series X.

CTOnews.com understands that Capcom Cup kicks off on February 12.
