From January 10 to January 26, Wechat dealt with a total of 5082 illegal accounts through user complaints and platform self-inspection, in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations and the platform rules such as the Wechat Public platform Operation Criterion. According to the violations, the above accounts will be punished to varying degrees.

CTOnews.com learned that in January this year, Wechat Public platform issued a regulation on the counterfeiting of account information and impersonating official organizations, which took effect on January 16. Among them, it is prohibited that the account information contains the content of counterfeit political parties, party, government and military organs, enterprises and institutions, people's organizations and social organizations; it is prohibited that the account information contains the content of fake news media, social groups and other organizations. If the name, profile and avatar of the official account contain keywords and logos of national government functional organizations such as political parties, party, government and military organs, enterprises and institutions, only the corresponding subject setting is allowed, otherwise such names shall not be used. After the announcement comes into effect, the platform will take corresponding measures such as deleting account information according to the degree of violation for illegal accounts involving relevant counterfeiting activities in accordance with the operational norms.
