Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, January 28, iFixit recently dismantled the 2023 Apple MacBook Pro and tested Apple's official maintenance guidelines.

The disassembly of the new MacBook Pro itself did not find many surprises, except for the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, the new laptop is almost the same as the previous generation. What's really interesting about the iFixit disassembly video is that the company took it apart according to the official maintenance guidelines provided by Apple to see if they were easy to understand.

These guidelines are part of Apple's self-service program, which provides users with the necessary tools to repair their devices. The program covers most of the latest iPhone models as well as the entire line of M1 Mac. But because the design of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro is the same as the previous generation, iFixit uses guidelines for the 2021 MacBook Pro model.

IFixit points out that Apple's maintenance guidelines have a lot of safety warnings. After all, users are dealing with electronic components, which can hurt people, depending on how they deal with it.

Is Apple's maintenance guide intuitive? According to iFixit, Apple's manual is "quite comprehensive and easy to use." But one intriguing thing is that Apple tells users to hang the MacBook screen on the edge of the table so that they don't touch the battery during maintenance. When it comes to repairable scores, the 2023 MacBook Pro scored 5 out of 10 because many parts were welded to logic boards.

CTOnews.com learned that before iFixit, 9to5Mac had demonstrated the internal components of MacBook Pro in 2023. Surprisingly, the basic model with 512GB storage space has the same problem as M2 MacBook Air with 256GB storage space, that is, the reduction in the number of NAND chips in SSD. The 2021 512GB MacBook Pro has four NAND chips, while only two new ones, resulting in a sharp slowdown in the write and read speed of memory. Because the models with higher storage capacity still have more than two NAND chips, they are not affected by the slow down of SSD speed.
