CTOnews.com, January 28 (Xinhua)-- Apple announced today that the price of App Store apps in the UK and several other countries will rise from February 13 due to changes in taxes and foreign exchange rates.

Internal purchase prices for applications and applications in Colombia, Egypt, Hungary, Nigeria, Norway, South Africa and the UK will rise, while prices in Uzbekistan will fall because of a 3 per cent reduction in the value added tax (VAT) rate in that country.

Prices in Ireland, Luxembourg, Singapore and Zimbabwe remain unchanged, but earnings will be adjusted slightly due to changes in VAT.

Ireland: reduce the VAT rate for electronic newspapers and periodicals from 9% to 0

Luxembourg: reduce the VAT rate from 17% to 16%.

Singapore: increase the tax rate on goods and services from 7% to 8%

Zimbabwe: increase VAT rate from 14.5% to 15%

Apple said revenue from local developers sold in Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan would increase by the end of January.

CTOnews.com learned that as early as December, Apple announced plans to provide developers with an additional 700 price points for App Store applications, leading to more changes in App Store pricing. The price of applications will be as low as 1 yuan or as high as 74999 yuan, and these changes will be implemented for all applications in the spring of 2023.
