CTOnews.com, January 28 (Xinhua)-- it is widely rumored that the next generation of iPhone 15 models will adopt the Wi-Fi 6e standard that Apple has introduced in iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. Now a leaked document seems to confirm Apple's plans.

The document, from researcher and whistleblower Unknownz21, contains diagrams of the antenna architecture of iPhone 15. D8x refers to the iPhone 15 Pro model, and the message indicates that the faster Wi-Fi 6e specification will be limited to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The standard iPhone 15 model labeled D3y will continue to use Wi-Fi 6 instead of Wi-Fi 6e. For further reference, D7x refers to iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max,D2y refers to iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. The document outlines the antenna design changes between iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. Other documents also indicate that Wi-Fi 6e will be an exclusive feature of iPhone 15 Pro.

So far, the Wi-Fi 6e has been added to some of Apple's product lineup, but only for the latest iPad Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Pro models. Apple has not previously limited the new Wi-Fi standard to Pro iPhone, but the iPhone 15 Pro model will have a number of features that iPhone 15 does not have.

Wi-Fi 6e allows devices to connect to routers and modems that support the Wi-Fi 6e standard, but it is a relatively new technology and is not yet popular. Wi-Fi 6e routers are readily available, but since they have only been launched in recent years, many users and enterprises have not yet upgraded. The Wi-Fi 6e router includes the 6GHz band in addition to the 2.4and 5GHz band. To use 6GHz, a Wi-Fi 6e router and a device that supports Wi-Fi 6e are required.

Compared to Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6e provides greater bandwidth, faster connection speed, lower latency, and higher capacity. The Wi-Fi 6e provides more than 1.2GHz spectrum in the 6GHz band, supporting gigabit coverage throughout the home, multi-gigabit connections to venues, and the bandwidth of higher data streams for AR and VR experiences.

Because the Wi-Fi 6e requires both routers and devices to support the standard, it is basically empty band with little traffic, which means that the iPhone 15 Pro model with Wi-Fi 6e will be able to connect well to the Wi-Fi 6e network and will not face much competition.

Unknownz21 said the figure is "just the tip of the iceberg" and that there will be more leaks about the iPhone 15 series, including complete images, in March this year before the iPhone 15 model is scheduled to enter EVT.

CTOnews.com learned that documents he obtained also confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro will be equipped with a faster 3nm A17 chip as well as solid-state volume and power buttons. As previously rumored, the iPhone 15 standard version will continue to use the A16 chip and retain the existing volume buttons.
