Beijing, January 28 (Xinhua), according to people familiar with the matter, the general counsel of Byte Jump is no longer responsible for TikTok's US government relations. TikTok is part of a restructuring to improve the company's reputation in the face of rigorous national security reviews in the United States.

TikTokTikTok has been in contact with U. S. officials in charge of national security issues in an attempt to avoid being banned in the United States. Previously, Eric Anderson, general counsel for byte jump, the parent company of TikTok, worked with US officials to try to find a compromise that would keep TikTok in use in the US while protecting US user data. Mr. Anderson lost that job last fall, people familiar with the matter said.

A spokesman for TikTok responded: "Eric's terms of reference have changed, allowing him to focus more deeply on the company's legal, trust and security work." It is not clear who replaced Anderson. Michael Beckman (Michael Beckerman), head of public policy for the Americas at TikTok, remains in the position.

Meanwhile, TikTok is awaiting a review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (Cfius). The committee is a government group focused on foreign investment to control the risks posed by domestic companies. In recent months, the review process has stalled at the U.S. Department of Justice and has faced public criticism from the Federal Bureau of investigation. Anderson will continue to lead the partnership with Cfius, according to people familiar with the matter.
