According to reports, the national 4G / 5G average daily telephone traffic increased by about 24% compared with the same period last year, while New Year's Eve's telephone traffic reached the highest level during the Spring Festival, an increase of more than 45% over the same period last year. The actual number of video CRBT users exceeded 260 million, and the total number of video CRBT users played during the Spring Festival averaged more than 380 million times a day, an increase of about 34% over the same period last year.

Officials say the sharp increase in 5G traffic reflects that 5G is accelerating its integration into people's daily lives and has become one of the important ways to promote a new type of information consumption.

CTOnews.com has reported that China Unicom said in December that it now has 1.17 million 5G base stations, accounting for about 30 per cent of the world. It is said that China Unicom and China Telecom have opened a total of 1 million 5G shared base stations to achieve continuous coverage of 5G networks in township and above areas.

In addition to 5G, the two sides have also carried out in-depth cooperation in 4G co-construction and sharing, opening a total of 1.1 million 4G shared base stations, saving the country more than 270 billion yuan in investment, saving more than 30 billion yuan in operating costs and reducing carbon emissions by more than 10 million tons a year.
