CTOnews.com, January 27, the Document Foundation today released LibreOffice 7.4.5, a patch update for the stable LibreOffice 7.4 open source office suite family to address key issues affecting many users on all supporting platforms.

LibreOffice 7.4.5 was released two weeks after the release of LibreOffice 7.4.4, fixing a crash when a header or footer button was clicked after scrolling in the LibreOffice Writer component. This problem was discovered in LibreOffice version 7.4.4 and affected a large number of users.

The foundation recommends that all users of the LibreOffice 7.4 office suite series update their installation to LibreOffice 7.4.5 as soon as possible. Users can do this by downloading binaries for RPM or DEB-based distributions from the official website or through the stable software repository of the distribution.

This update was originally planned for early March 2023, as the foundation is currently focused on making final changes to the next major version of the open source office suite LibreOffice 7.5, which is expected to bring many new features and improvements next week, February 2.

As a result, the LibreOffice 7.4 series will have an additional small version until LibreOffice 7.4.7. The March update is now assigned to LibreOffice 7.4.6, is expected to be released in the first week of March, and more bugs have been fixed.

CTOnews.com has learned that since LibreOffice 7.5 will be seen as a feature release for enthusiasts and cutting-edge users, the LibreOffice 7.4 office suite series will be supported by June 12, 2023.

This is the "community" version of LibreOffice, supported by volunteers and other members of the open source community. For enterprise deployment and paid technical support, users need to use LibreOffice Enterprise series applications.
