Recently, Brazilian regulator Anatel said that Brazil is expected to open 5G networks in the 3.5GHz band in about 1610 regions by the end of the second half of 2023.

On Tuesday, Anatel approved permission to use the band in 78 other cities close to the state capital or with a population of more than 500000, and allowed mobile operators to activate the network in those places.

It is reported that the decision was made after EAF and Gaispi, the technical groups responsible for overseeing the promotion of 5G and interference with free satellite services in adjacent blocks of the 3.5GHz band, gave the green light. According to Anatel, 140 cities with a population of 38.5% have been approved to accept 5G in the 3.5GHz band.

As Carlos Baigorri, president of Anatel, said in a recent interview, regulators are seeking to activate 5G networks early in as many places as possible. However, it is up to the operator to decide whether it can be activated in advance.
