LG launched its new Gram Style series of laptops on CES 2023, available in 14-inch and 16-inch models. The source revealed to the foreign media thelec that the two notebooks are currently being manufactured using the rigid OLED panels displayed by Samsung.

Rigid panels use glass substrates, which are cheaper than flexible OLED panels made of plastic. Samsung shows that it currently produces rigid panels at its A2 factory in South Korea. These panels are aimed at IT products such as midrange smartphones and laptops.

Samsung's rival, LG Display, does not produce rigid OLED panels, but only flexible OLED panels for Apple's iPhone and Apple Watch, as well as high-end cars.

LG Display can use its flexible OLED panel production facility to make rigid OLED panels, but it will be more expensive than the production line originally designed to make rigid OLED panels, the source said.
