CTOnews.com, January 26 (Xinhua) according to the Wall Street Journal, US air safety regulators said that a contractor directly involved in the failure of the US Aviation Administration (FAA) system earlier this month had lost access to the agency's facilities and systems and was continuing to investigate the failure.

The system failure of ▲ source PexelsFAA led to a massive interruption of US air travel on January 11, and domestic flights were suspended for nearly two hours. More than 11300 U.S. flights were delayed or cancelled that day, the first time domestic flights in the United States have been grounded in about 20 years, according to FlightAware.

In a report, FAA said the employees involved in deleting computer files and causing the disruption of the pilot alarm system worked at a company called Spatial Front.

CTOnews.com learned that FAA officials had previously said the preliminary review traced the problem to a corrupted database file, but added that there was no evidence of a cyber attack and that the investigation was continuing. People familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the same file on the primary and backup systems had been damaged.
