In this update, this version will not apply to Arm64 devices due to known problems that caused the device to get stuck on the operating system startup logo Logo. Microsoft offers a new widget trial for Preview experience members in the Dev channel, which includes a set of fixes.

New content, new widgets.

With the release of Windows App SDK 1.2, developers can now create widgets for their applications. Users can access these experiences on the Windows 11 widget panel in the current Dev preview version.

Are you ready to try out the new widget? For example, Messenger applications can now use a preview of their widgets. To give it a try, go to Microsoft Store and update to the latest version of Messenger. Then open the widget panel and navigate to the widget selector by clicking the "+" button in the upper right corner of the board to secure the widget.

When you try this widget, submit the content through the widget feedback link in the widget selector. As more and more developers create and release widgets for their applications, users will see more new widgets.

Fix [taskbar and system tray]

Fixed an issue where right-clicking on some icons in the pop-up window of the hidden icon caused the pop-up window to close instead of bringing up the context menu of the icon.

These fixes apply only to Windows Preview experience members, who accept a different approach, that is, the look of the search on the taskbar, and begin to introduce them to Build 25252 Preview experience members:

Fixed explorer.exe crash that affected some internal testers, related to the search box in the taskbar.

When a search suggestion is triggered when using the Pinyin input method, the keyboard focus will now remain on the current candidate word. To move the focus to search for suggestions, press Tab.

Fixed a problem with touching PC, where when using some applications in full screen mode, you cannot slide down from the top of the screen to display the title bar.

[other]

Fixed an issue that caused some applications to hang or crash when saving files as PDF in recent versions.

Fixed an issue where using the connection option in an application might accidentally not display any devices in the latest version.

CTOnews.com has learned that some of the fixes mentioned in the preview version of the Dev channel may enter service updates for the released version of Windows 11.

Known problem [generic]

[new] some internal test users may encounter problems when accessing websites and other resources through virtual private network connections.

Important: some Arm64 devices may not recover from sleep / hibernation when running Build 25281 and hang at the operating system boot logo Logo. To bypass this error, use the Windows recovery Environment (WinRE) to roll back the device to the previous version. Instructions can be found here: ms/WinRERollback.

Logging in via facial recognition using Windows Hello may not work on Arm64 PC. The solution is to use the Hello PIN path.

Some users encounter updates that take longer than expected when installing the latest version. Microsoft is actively investigating the problem.

Microsoft is investigating reports that some internal test users encountered a freeze when using browsers and some other applications after installing the last version of Dev.

[new] third-party widgets may sometimes disappear from the widget panel. You can add them again by clicking Refresh or reanchoring them from the widget selector.

There is a problem that, in some cases, users will not be able to change the taskbar search box to display only as icons through taskbar settings. To resolve this problem, first change to a different option, and then you will be able to choose to display only as icons.

When applied from the task manager settings page, some dialogs may not be rendered with the correct theme.

When you apply theme changes to the task manager settings page, the data content area of the process page may flash once.

[Windows Spotlight]

The following known issues apply only to Windows Preview experience members who accept one of the different ways of handling Windows Spotlight, which are beginning to be rolled out to Build 25281 users:

[new] Spotlight wallpaper shows incorrect resolution on a multi-resolution / mixed-resolution display.
