CTOnews.com, January 25, Radxa Rock5 Model An is a single board computer about the size and shape of the Raspberry Pi 4, but it has a faster processor and supports more memory.

Radxa expects its motherboard, also known as ROCK 5A, to start shipping in the second quarter of 2023. The retail price starts at $99 (currently about 671 yuan).

The core of Rock5 Model An is the Ruixin micro-RK3588S processor, which is the same series of RK3588 models used in Rock5 Model B launched last year. But Model B has a larger circuit board with a size of 100x 72mm and some additional ports.

The Rock5 Model A model has a more compact design that makes it more suitable for projects with limited space. The size is more like Raspberry Pi Model B.

CTOnews.com learned that the Ruixin RK3588S processor has four ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores up to 2.4GHz, four Cortex-A55 cores up to 1.8GHz, Mali-G610 MC4 graphics and a neural processing unit with hardware-accelerated AI performance up to 6TOPS, and supports 8K / 60fps video playback.

The veneer has LPDDR4X memory and will be available in three different configurations:

4GB memory version $99 (currently about RMB671) (or pre-order discount price of $69, currently about RMB468)

8GB memory version $119,000,000 (or pre-order discount price of $89, currently about 603 yuan)

16GB memory version is $159USD (currently about RMB 1078) (or pre-order discount price of US $129, currently about RMB875)

The characteristics of each model are as follows:

1 x USB Type-C port (for power supply)

2 x micro HDMI port (one supports 8K / 60Hz output, the other supports 4K / 60Hz)

1 x USB 3 Type-An OTG / host port

1 x USB 3 Type-A host port

2 x USB 2.0 type A host port

1 x Gigabit Ethernet port

1 x microSD card reader

1 x eMMC module connector (supports eMMC 5.1)

1 x M.2 E Key with support for PCIe 2.1 single channel, SATA and USB 2.0

1 x LCD monitor connector (4-channel MIPI-DSI)

1 x camera connector (1 x 4-channel MIPI-CSI or 2 x 2-channel MIPI-CSI)

40-pin connector

There are other bits and pieces, including fan connectors and RTC battery connectors.

Radxa said that when using both the HDMI port and the MIPI-DSIC display connector, the ROCK 5A supports up to three monitors. Users can use eMMC module, microSD card or M.2 E Key for storage.
