CTOnews.com January 25, Microsoft today released its results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2023 ended December 31, 2022 (CTOnews.com Note: Microsoft's fiscal year begins in July).

Microsoft reported revenue of $52.7 billion (currently about 357.306 billion yuan) in the second quarter, up 2 per cent from a year earlier. Of this total, revenue from Xbox content and services fell 12 per cent year-on-year and 8 per cent year-on-year, excluding the impact of exchange rates.

Microsoft's gaming revenue fell 13% year-on-year in the second quarter of fiscal 2023, according to Purexbox.

Frank X. Shaw, a Microsoft executive, said Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, game streaming hours and monthly active users all hit record highs, with a record 120 million monthly active users in the quarter.

On January 19, Microsoft announced that it would cut 10, 000 jobs by the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2023. Sources say the layoffs spread to the gaming division, including Bethesda Game Studios (Bethesda Game Studios), the developer of the "Ancient Scroll" and "radiation" series, and 343Industries, the developer of Halo: infinity.
