Recently, Juniper Research pointed out in its latest report that revenue from the mobile voice market will fall from $240 billion in 2022 (currently about 1.63 trillion yuan) to $200 billion by the end of 2026 (currently about 1.36 trillion yuan). The continuous migration of P2P voice traffic to OTT voice applications and the rapid growth of voice fraud (such as voice phishing) are the main reasons for the decline in revenue.

"the decline in mobile voice revenue has plagued operators for several years and is expected to persist, so operators must pay more and more attention to service development to address voice-related ARPU decline," said Sam Barker, head of analysis and forecasting at Juniper Research.

Juniper Research highlighted contact center as a service (CCaaS), flash calls, programmable voice, and advanced firewalls as new opportunities for operators to mitigate the decline in voice traffic.

In addition, Juniper Research said that the use of advanced monetization tools could enable mobile operators to increase revenue by at least 210 per cent through A2P and more than 50 per cent through P2P in the first 12 months.
