Recently, the British Space Agency announced that it will allocate 5000 million pounds (currently about 418 million yuan) as part of the European Space Agency (ESA) advanced research on telecommunications services. For a series of projects such as the development of new satellite constellations, ground systems needed to access satellite constellations or the entire end-to-end system to provide new services to customers.

Specific projects may include integrating 5G systems, upgrading infrastructure, expanding Internet of things connections, and supporting new markets and services, such as drones or unmanned transportation.

George Freeman, science secretary, said: "developing space capabilities and maximizing commercial opportunities are part of the UK's plan to become a leading force in space and part of our further development of an industry that has contributed 16.5 billion pounds (currently about 137.94 billion yuan) to the UK economy."

Freeman suggested that 50 million pounds of NASA funding would help more companies enter the booming British space telecoms industry and help boost growth in the UK economy.

The investment will create space-based networks that compete with wired terrestrial networks, help UK operators use disruptive new technologies and business models, and provide services with higher quality connectivity, higher bandwidth, lower latency and higher security for remote areas.
