Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com Jan. 24 News According to the latest tests, the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips have faster solid-state drive write speeds compared to previous generations.
Earlier media reviews of the new MacBook Pro were lifted, and Macworld and Tom's Guide tested the SSD read and write speeds of Apple's latest laptops.
Macworld was tested with the Blackmagic disk speed app, and the 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro achieved read speeds of 5372MBps and write speeds of 6491MBps in a 2TB storage configuration. The previous-generation 14-inch MacBook Pro, equipped with the M1 Pro chip and 1TB of storage, has slightly faster read speeds than the 16-inch M2 Pro, but slower write speeds of 5321 MBps.
Blackmagic Disk Speed Results CTOnews.com learned that Tom's Guide published test results that also showed that the new M2 Pro writes faster than the M1 Pro, but reads slightly slower. Testing the 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M2 Max found that the notebook scored similar to the 16-inch M2 Pro, achieving a read speed of 5,319 MBps and a write speed of 6,402 MBps.
Although the new MacBook Pro reads slightly slower based on these tests, users are unlikely to notice a difference in daily performance unless they are handling very large files. Storage speed and performance are also affected by other factors, such as storage capacity.
Last year, it was reported that Apple drastically cut the SSD speed of the M2 basic MacBook Air, missing a SSD chip in the laptop. The MacBook Air has a storage capacity of 256GB and uses a single NAND chip, resulting in a 50% reduction in read speed and a 30% reduction in write speed. Previous MacBook Air base versions featured two NAND chips. Apple said in a statement that the MacBook Air's actual performance is "even faster" and features "higher density NAND" chips.
