CTOnews.com, January 24, the Wall Street Journal reported that Ford Motor Company is in talks with Chinese electric car maker BYD to sell a German manufacturing plant, and the terms of the deal, including the price, are not known.

Ford management officials in Germany plan to travel to China next week to discuss the possibility of selling the Saluis plant, where production is scheduled to end in 2025, where Ford produces its Fox compact model.

The negotiations are still at an early stage and the deal is likely to fail, according to people familiar with the matter. Ford is assessing the interest of about 15 potential investors, including manufacturers such as BYD, as well as financial investors working with manufacturers.

CTOnews.com learned that according to an earlier report by Reuters, Germany's IG Metall union said on January 23 that Ford plans to cut about 3200 jobs in Europe, including as many as 2500 product development jobs and 700 executive positions, with Germany being the most affected.
