CTOnews.com, January 24, Polestar (Polar Star) today shared the details of its upcoming 2024 Polestar 2. In addition to the appearance, the 2024 Polestar 2 will also upgrade the battery and motor to provide more power and acceleration. In addition, the new Polestar 2 will be the first model of the brand to offer rear wheel drive, providing higher battery life.

Polestar is a relatively young electric car manufacturer, achieving its target of delivering more than 50,000 electric vehicles in 2022.

The Polestar 2, which made its debut three years ago, is now sold in 27 different markets and exceeded total sales of 100000 vehicles by the end of 2022.

The 2024 Polestar 2 features a new closed front design, known as "SmartZone", which represents the new design language of the electric car brand in the future. The SmartZone consists of several forward-facing sensors, a forward-facing radar, heating wire, accelerometer and ultrasonic sensors, which combine to operate as "smart eyes".

The 2024 Polestar 2 also features new batteries and a new power system, and the performance of the three latest Polestar 2 models will be upgraded. The new single-motor version is now rear-wheel drive, which used to be front-wheel drive, in order to improve efficiency and battery life. The dual-motor all-wheel drive version is also biased towards rear-wheel drive to increase driving fun and performance.

The updated dual-motor version of Polestar 2 uses a new rear motor, boosting power from 14bhp to 416bhp and torque from 59lb ft to 546lb ft, reducing acceleration time from 0 to 62 mph to 4.5 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the previous version. The rear-wheel drive version is also faster now, with an acceleration time of 5.9 seconds at 0-60 mph (up from 7.0 seconds before).

The 2024 Polestar 2 single-motor rear-wheel drive model now has a maximum range of 300mph (482.8 km) in EPA, an increase from the 270mph (434.52 km) of the previous front-wheel drive version. This improvement is mainly due to the addition of a larger battery pack, from 78 kilowatt hours to 82 kilowatt hours, which can also be recharged at a faster speed of 205 kilowatts (previously 155 kilowatts).

CTOnews.com has learned that the 2024 Polestar 2 has opened pre-orders in overseas markets and is expected to be delivered to customers later this year.
