According to CTOnews.com, January 24, the open source multimedia framework GStreamer has recently released a 1.22 update, focusing on improved support for AV1 and WebRTC. This update enhances the hardware encoding and decoding of VA-API / VA, AMF, D3D11, NVCODEC, QSV and Intel MediaSDK.

CTOnews.com learned that this update has also improved the design of DMA buffer sharing and modifier handling, hardware accelerated video decoders, encoders and filters, and capture and rendering specifically for Linux users.

GStreamer 1.22 also added video rendering for Qt6, ONVIF timing metadata support, new segmented and non-segmented MP4 multiplexers, new gtk4paintablesink and gtkwaylandsink renderers, and support for touchscreen events in navigation API in the QML scene.
