Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com news on January 24, Tesla submitted a patent to the US Patent and Trademark Office and other international patent offices, there are new details around the upcoming CyberTruck.
The patent reveals how Tesla uses glass with large radians on CyberTruck windshields and details how to make these glasses. In the patent, Tesla mentioned how to heat part of his glass surface locally to form a characteristic line. Or in other words, how the glass is bent.
Automotive glass structures with curves and characteristic lines and methods for forming these structures are provided. An example method includes applying local heat (for example, through a laser, heating element) to a location of a glass structure that is essentially planar, and bending the glass structure at that position (for example, along a line of the planar glass structure) to form characteristic lines in the glass structure. The bend can be formed with a radius of curvature from 2 mm to 5 cm. Additional bent or connected glass layers may be further included to form a multi-layer glass structure for bending of the automobile.
In the patent's detailed description of the disclosure, the technology mentioned is said to be applicable to "cars, trucks, semi-trailers, etc.". The patent picture uses Cybertruck as an example.
This does not guarantee that Tesla's upcoming electric pickup truck will certainly use the technology described in the patent to process glass, but judging from Tesla's past views on his so-called armored glass and high durability glass projects, we may see large curved glass on Cybertruck in the future. In addition, Tesla Semi may also benefit from these molding technologies.
The patent also mentions that similar glass structures can be used inside vehicles, such as dashboards.
CTOnews.com learned that Cybertruck is expected to be delivered sometime in mid-2023, that production equipment for the car has been found several times in Gigafactory, Texas, and that Tesla's chief designer said that from a "design point of view," the truck had been completed.
